Practice shooting in the comfort of your own home, anytime and as often as you like. Our laser targets and a laser-based firearm simulator, such as the SIRT training pistol from NextLevel Training, make it possible to do just that.
We won’t argue the fun that can be had from shooting a laser at a wall switch plate, or chasing the cat around the living room with a laser beam. But imagine having laser targets that simulate steel plates, poppers, and silhouettes. Targets that show your hits as you shoot, and clang with the gratifying sound of 9mm striking steel. Targets that wirelessly send your hits to the Shooter Make Ready app on your smartphone or tablet so you can actually see and evaluate your speed and accuracy.
If you’re new to shooting, keep it simple with one or two laser targets a short distance away. As your skills improve, add more targets and mix up the course of fire for even more challenging scenarios. Up to six laser targets can be arranged anywhere within a 50 foot radius, in the same room or throughout a building. To the front, side, behind or even above and below the shooter for full 360 degree training scenarios not possible with camera and video based systems. Or stack your targets for a larger hit area if that’s what you prefer.
Our laser targets run up to 36 continuous hours on a single charge, and will fully recharge in under 2 hours using a Mini-USB cable and charge adapter. Use the recessed power switch to turn the laser target off when not in use to increase the time between charges to many days. LED indicators show power, connection and charging status.
LASER TRAINING PISTOL
A laser-based firearm simulator is the ideal tool for safe dry fire practice anywhere you want to train. We believe the SIRT 110 pistol from NextLevel Training is the best in its class. It has the size, weight and feel of a Glock 17/22 handgun with a resettable trigger, removable magazine, and two lasers to indicate trigger prep (takeup) and break (shot).
Normally the SIRT pistol activates the shot laser for as long as the trigger is held. Our SIRT OneShot plug-in module modifies the SIRT pistol to activate the shot laser for a short timed duration to simulate one shot being fired with each pull of the trigger. The pulse is timed perfectly for our laser targets to detect and report only one hit per shot. The SIRT OneShot module plugs directly into the existing laser module connector, and can be easily installed in just a few minutes.
Already using a laser training pistol other than a SIRT? Perhaps you currently own a laser cartridge or barrel insert for your carry firearm. If so, you might be wondering if you can use it with Shooter Make Ready. If the laser in your training pistol is compatible with our targets, the short answer is YES! Order a target pack, install the Shooter Make Ready app, get out your laser training pistol, and start training!
Click on the button below to learn more about the requirements for using laser training products other than the SIRT Training Pistol.
The Shooter Make Ready app automatically connects to up to six laser targets*. Targets are assigned a color for easy identification in the app screens.
Choose a Course Of Fire from five available in the app: Steel Training, Saturday Steel, React, Practical Shooting, and Friend Or Foe. Range Officer commands can be enabled to direct the start of the Course Of Fire: “Are you ready?” “Standby!” followed by a 300ms start signal “Beeeep!”. Press the Start button on the Shot Timer screen and begin shooting at the start signal. Even a par time stop signal can be configured for time limited shot strings.
A Shot Timer view captures and displays laser target hits, cumulative times, split times, and overall scoring for each Course Of Fire. A Targets view shows laser target hit locations and features a sight picture visualization tool and shot correction chart overlays for analyzing shot groups.
The app is available for compatible Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. Additional COFs may be provided with new app releases.
*Older model smartphones and tablets may not have the Bluetooth technology needed to reliably communicate with the maximum of 6 laser targets supported by Shooter Make Ready, in which case fewer laser targets may be used.
Make no mistake, Shooter Make Ready is serious training that’s seriously fun!

WHAT DOES IT DO?
Dry fire practice develops muscle memory through repetition, allowing the shooter to learn how to act and react safely, rapidly and instinctively while manipulating a firearm. It is proven to be extremely effective for developing and honing skills such as proper grip, stance, draw, presentation, ready position, target acquisition, natural point of aim, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control, follow through, reloading, target discrimination, and movement and cover.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Firearm simulators use a laser and resettable trigger to overcome the inherent dangers and problems associated with using an actual firearm for dry fire practice. A laser pulse is activated with each pull of the trigger. Target impact points are detected by our laser targets and sent to the app, providing real time feedback on speed, accuracy and hit locations.
WHERE AND HOW OFTEN?
Dry fire practice can be done safely just about anywhere, including in your own home. Shooter Make Ready is designed primarily for indoor use, although it can be used outdoors in dry weather if not subjected to bright sunlight.
Many firearm trainers suggest that dry fire practice should constitute 70-80 percent of your overall firearm training. The usual recommendation is to train for about 20 minutes 3-5 days a week, but practicing just 15 minutes twice a week will still greatly improve your shooting skills and build your confidence.
“It’s abundantly evident to this USPSA shooter, from not only the overall quality of the product but also from the ease of setup and use, the variety of shooting simulations and the skills and techniques that can be measured with Shooter Make Ready, that a lot of time and effort from experienced shooters went into the design of the product. All shooters from all skill levels will find something they can improve by using this. In fact, someone who’s never shot will find it fun and challenging, and may get them involved in the sport. The first time I set it up my hand was sore because I just couldn’t put it down from trying to beat my own previous time. So yes, it’s addictive. I am unaware of any other product that is as safe, versatile and informative, let alone as much fun, to practice shooting as this one.”
“The interface is very user friendly and tracking of performance is intuitive. The wide range of available courses of fire and ability to customize allows the user to tailor training to meet their needs. I particularly like the React course of fire which allows for work on target transition as you must react to the target cues. Overall I have been very pleased with the system and its functionality and think it is a very useful tool to improve anyone’s gun handling, target acquisition and general shooting skills.”
“Shooter Make Ready has made dry fire fun! After going to a national training conference last spring, I was all excited to do more dry fire. However, I got bored quickly and stopped after a few sessions. I use Shooter Make Ready now almost every day with different courses of fire. I am just starting to shoot IDPA matches, so I have been working on speed drawing from concealment using the Steel Training course and the par timer. I set the par timer and see how many shots I can get on target after drawing from concealment. Unlike traditional dry fire, the SMR app shows how many shots were within the par time and if any were late.
Another fun exercise is to set up the targets around the basement and shoot Saturday Steel as I move around keeping the 180 degree line in mind. A couple friends who shoot come over and ‘play dry fire’ with me, and I plan to invite a group over for a dry fire party soon! Every person I have shown this to loves it. I look forward to seeing how this training helps my competition shooting going forward, but it’s also just fun to play around with, setting targets on my mantle and sitting on my couch engaging them while I watch TV! Thank you, Accelerated Firearm Training, for the great (and fun!) training tool!”
“Shooter Make Ready is a great tool to improve your shot accuracy, speed, trigger control and transitions without breaking the bank with actual ammo. It is extremely easy to set up, and you can practice just about anywhere. Varying COFs from Saturday Steel, USPSA targets, or just plain reaction targets keeps practice time fun. I really like the instant feedback while hitting targets with realistic “steel plate” sounds. Being able to review the last stage to see exactly where you hit the target and times for shots, mag changes and target transitions allows you to pinpoint what skills to work on.
My kids are constantly asking me to have a quick competition – they even like the SMR competitions much better than the “shooter” games they have on Xbox. I am much more comfortable taking them to the range after they’ve learned the safe way to handle guns with SMR.”
“The Shooter Make Ready product makes learning basic handgun handling very easy to grasp. My wife and kids, who have very little actual handgun experience, were able to quickly score hits as well as determine the reason for any misses. They appreciated the fact they could practice without the noise of firing live ammunition. This is a great product for newer handgun owners who want to get some more trigger time.”
“With Shooter Make Ready my firearm skills have improved dramatically and I am much more confident. And I love being able to practice 24/7 in my own house.”
“Shooter Make Ready really helps sharpen my shooting skills. I have found it to be a great practice tool that makes dry fire far more productive, and I especially like the real time feedback I get on my performance. And it really is fun to use so I practice more each day.”
“Thanks Accelerated Firearm Training for such a great product. I refer to my Shooter Make Ready targets as ‘smart targets’. I find that the feedback on timing and accuracy is extremely helpful.
There are two things that really stand out for me.
My concerns about ammunition availability makes me very stingy to use my live ammo. Shooter Make Ready and my SIRT pistol gives me the satisfaction of shooting practice and I can do it safely in the convenience of my own home. That is a huge benefit to me!
Secondly, my family is very competitive. We have set up competition courses throughout the house and the fun we’ve had trying to beat each others times has been priceless.”
